Hello friends and neighbors,
Shelby will be at the Martini Ranch in Scottsdale AZ at 8pm this Saturday solo acoustic opening for Stephen Ashbrook. Shelby and the newly formed Crying Shames will debut at the Mesa Arts center as part of the Holiday Art and Music Festival from 3-5 on Saturday December the 12. The new line up features multi instrumentalist Amos Cox from the Breadwinners on mandolin, banjo, and gutitar, Jane Hilton on violin, and Mickey Ferrell on bass. Should be a great show.
Shelby James and Crying Shames are finally on Facebook so hit them up at the link below to preview new songs due out later this winter.

On the Afternoon of July 16 founding member of Shelby James and Crying Shames Mark Kopenits died in his home of a massive heart attack. He leaves behind a son, daughter, and beautiful wife whom he loved very much. I’ve known Mark for eight years. He had been my friend, mentor, band mate, teacher, and confidant. The warmth and generosity that he put forth and shared with the world will be sorely missed. Mark spoke to the world through music. He played the guitar with his heart and the best elements of his character as a person came through in his playing; sincerity, class, taste, and warmth. As a recording engineer and teacher at Scottsdale Community College he touched many with his willingness to share what he had learned through the years.
Funeral arrangements and memorials are being planned and we’ll keep everyone posted on the details as they unfold. On behalf of his family I want to thank all of you for the love and support we’ve received in the last few days. It has been amazing and overwhelming.
